Privacy Policy
Effective date: September 18, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how ConsumerHub ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, shares, and protects personal information when you visit consumerhub.org or submit a review to the VoyageTrust platform (the "Site"). It applies alongside our Terms of Service. We collect as little as possible: you do not need an account to read the Site or to post a review.
1. Information We Collect
Information you give us. When you submit a review we collect the display name you choose, your email address, and the content of your review, including ship, destination, sailing date, star rating, title, and story. If you email us, we receive your message and address.
Account information. Only moderators hold accounts. For those accounts we store an email address and an encrypted password managed by our authentication provider.
Technical information. Our hosting and security providers automatically log standard request data such as IP address, browser type, referring page, and timestamps, used to keep the Site running and to block spam and abuse.
We do not collect payment information, passport or booking records, precise location data, or special categories of personal data, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
2. How We Use Information
We use the information to publish and moderate reviews, verify that submissions are genuine passenger accounts, contact you about your own submission or an appeal, respond to reports and correction requests, protect the Site from spam, fraud, and abuse, produce aggregate statistics about ships and destinations, and meet legal obligations.
3. What Is Published and What Stays Private
The display name you enter is published beside your review, so use a first name or initials if you prefer not to be identified. Your email address is never published. It is stored privately and visible only to moderators, who use it solely for verification, appeals, and deletion requests.
4. Consent and Legal Basis
Submitting a review is voluntary and constitutes your consent to publish that review, with your display name, on the Site. Where the GDPR or similar law applies, we rely on your consent for publishing your review and on our legitimate interest in operating a safe, useful review platform for moderation, security, and analytics. You may withdraw consent at any time by asking us to remove your review; that does not affect processing that already took place.
5. Cookies and Analytics
We use only the cookies needed for the Site to work, including a session cookie for moderators who sign in. We do not run advertising networks or sell profiles for behavioural advertising. If we add privacy- respecting analytics, it will be aggregate traffic measurement only, and this policy will be updated before it goes live. Your browser settings let you block or delete cookies, though moderator sign-in will not work without them.
6. How We Share Information
We do not sell or rent personal information. We share it only with service providers that run the Site on our behalf — hosting, database and authentication, email delivery, and spam protection — under agreements limiting their use to providing those services; and where required by law, court order, or to protect legal rights, safety, or the integrity of the Site. If ownership of the Site ever changes, information may transfer with it, subject to this policy.
7. Data Retention
Published reviews stay online until you or a moderator remove them. Rejected submissions and moderation notes are kept for up to twelve months so appeals can be reviewed, then deleted. Technical logs are typically retained for up to ninety days.
8. Your Rights and Choices
You may ask us to show you the information we hold about you, correct it, delete your review and associated email, or withdraw consent. Depending on where you live you may also have rights to object to processing, request portability, or complain to a data protection authority. Email privacy@consumerhub.org from the address you used to submit, and we will respond within thirty days. We never ask for payment to remove a review, and we never charge to keep one online.
9. Security
Information is stored with reputable hosting and database providers, transmitted over encrypted connections, and protected by access rules that restrict reviewer email addresses to moderator accounts. No system is perfectly secure, so please do not include sensitive personal details in the text of a review.
10. International Visitors
The Site is operated in the United States, and information you provide is processed there. If you visit from outside the United States, you consent to that transfer and processing.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy; the effective date above shows the latest version. Material changes will be noted on this page, and continued use of the Site afterwards means you accept the update.
